�Painting Reality� � A Brushstroke by Society �

Premiere of �Painting Reality� & Reading by Helmut Kuhn 9th of July 2010 Forgotten Bar Boppstrasse 5 as part of the Kreuzberg Biennale, Berlin

500 litres of paint were dumped on Rosenthaler Platz on the 25th of April, 2010 � a new colour in front of every traffic light: lemon yellow, chimney red, cyan blue, and purple violet. The cars drove over the paint and became �paint brushes�. The action was executed anonymously. For months people were guessing whether this was a �Guerrilla Advertising Campaign� or an artwork.

It is a work of art by Dutch artist IEPE (b. 1974) together with an anonymous crew. IEPE is known for his �traffic congestive actions� in Berlin and Tokyo, as well as the raining �Miracle� trees in Singapore, Berlin and Arnsberg. Addition-ally, he is the inventor of the hybrid sport �Chess Boxing� and is the director of the World Chess Boxing Organisation, WCBO, with clubs in Siberia, London, Los Angeles and Berlin.

IEPE works �within society� or �with society�. For him Chess Boxing is as much Social Sculpture as an independent sport. Thus the artists� idea was to find a way of combining body and mind and integrate this modality in society. As well as this, his work is about controlling aggression and thinking outside of the many boxes society consists of. The work � Painting Reality� is connected to the idea of Social Sculpture and is a picturesque implementation of it.

On this evening the Berlin author Helmut Kuhn reads from a yet unpublished novel where the protagonist also is a chess boxer. In this particular draft of the novel he also observes the painting action at Rosenthaler Platz.

After the reading, the premiere of the film �Painting Reality� will take place. It is a documentation and co-production by the director Achim Bornhak (a.o. �Das Wilde Leben�) and IEPE. Apart from this, a documentation of the first Chess Boxing match, which took place in Amsterdam 2003, will be shown.

The film premiere of �Painting Reality� (documentation) takes place at Forgotten Bar and the reading will be held in the sandbox in front of the bar. It is curated by Solvej Helweg Ovesen - all as part of the Kreutzberg Biennale.

THE ARNSBERG MIRACLE

After Berlin and Singapore a tree will rain in Arnsberg....

On the 1st of august the miracle tree will be honoured by speeches of the local mayor Mr. Frans-Josef Vogel as well as the local priest Mr. B�ttcher.

At the same time the exhibition 'Auszeit' at the Kunstverein Arnsberg e.V., curated by Vlado Velkov will be shown.
Participating artists are: Julieta Aranda, Olafur Eliasson, Eno Henze, Kazuo Katase, Peter Piller, Erich Reusch, Mandla Reuter, Thiago Rocha-Pitta, Albrecht Sch�fer, Paul Virilio and Jordan Wolfson.

THE SINGAPORE MIRACLE @ THE SINGAPORE BIENNALE, Sept. 1st - 12th of Nov. 2006�

after three weeks of talking to an Angsana Tree in Singapore it started raining out of the crone just before the opening of the Singapore Biennale. It is said that the rain of the tree washes away sins, cures diseases and even makes us younger. So we took the test and had a shower last sunday.

This time I could bring the Miracle Team from Berlin with me to Singapore. They worked closely together with local specialists. And then of course there was the help of allround support from Tokyo by Michi 'KO' Ogura, who is an outstanding specialist on metaphysical issues.

Let's cut the crap. Enjoy the photos!

LAST WEEK// backjumps

Backjumps Exhibition opened last friday (http://www.backjumps.org/li2.html). Curated by Adria Nabi, I joined the exhibtion about street art with the movie about the Berlin Miracle (2002, http://wunder.iepe.net). The opening was a big succes; about 3000 -mainly young- people visited this very funky and rough art expo.

SINCE A WHILE// CBCB e.V.

The first Chess Boxing Club Berlin started training this summer. (see photos attached) The club will soon have it's own web blog: http://cbcberlin.de. This blog will - unfortunately for those who only speak english -be in the german language.

Hans 'Mazta' Finckh did a great job in creating a html website that has some very flashy gadgets.
The direct cause for the website was its embediment in a german Union Verdi campaign called Aktion 05 (http://www.aktion05.de). Communication Office Platoon (http://www.platoon.org) - with the license and the advise of the joker - set up barrier tape demonstrations all over the country to fight against the decreasing apprenticeship places for the young.

Andreas 'D' Schneider and Tihomir 'Tigertad' Titschko are now on full training speed for their fight on the 1st of October. Interval-, 20m Chess-, and of cours Chess Box Sparring Training are daily ingredients for the two heavyweight chessboxers. (official announcement will come soon...)

The 1st Worldchampionship of a fantastic new sport is near !

On friday November 14th 2003 the 1st battle for the title of CHESSBOXING World Champion is going to take place at the Paradiso in Amsterdam.

The World Chess Boxing Organization (WCBO) is sending the two chessboxers ,,Iepe the Joker�� and ,,Luis the Lawyer�� into the ring.

On the eve the WCBO will be showing olympic boxers and grandmasters in chess. There will be pressconferences and people will be given the opportunity to place bets.
Chess analysts are going to comment the board-fight, boxing judges will be counting the punches. The Worldchampionship finishes with a CHESSBOXING-gala.
